So Just How does a dishwasher work?

For those of you who have an interest in how machines work, this is just an outline guide on how a dishwasher does the washing up.These days, all modern machines are only connected to the cold water supply, which is then heated to the required heat, depending on the programme cycle selected.  The time for heating the water is taken into account in the timing for each cycle the dishwasher offers.

Unlike other machines, if you remove the lid of a dishwasher you will not see the works laid out as most of the parts are located within the door or under the stainless steel base. The machines are designed in this way to allow for the number of place settings required to be cleaned, otherwise we would only be able to wash a few cups and a couple of plates at a time. Dishwasher fault finding advice

One of the most important household appliances is the dishwasher,  they get a lot of use and are very likely to have problems at some point so make sure you know what to do should you encounter problems.

The dishwasher fills with water when switched off, or fills with dirty water – this is probably one of the most common problems with a dishwasher. It can happen overnight, or you may notice it if you have been away for a few days.  It can sometimes become apparent if you are using your dishwasher more than usual, maybe at Christmas when the family have been to stay. There is always the option this could be a problem with the valve, but it is generally a far more simple solution to the problem. Its very unpleasant when you find stale water inside your dishwasher, especially when you know you correctly turned it off after use.  If not noticed quickly this will result in a very unpleasant smell! Please be aware that even though your Dishwasher may be under Warranty, or Extended Warranty, it is best to check out a few things prior to calling in an Engineer under your Warranty, as it may well be that you will be charged if the problem is not related to the actual dishwasher.
