Do you need to replace the timer on your washing machine?

How do you proceed if your washing machine refuses to perform, especially if you have already worked through the normal processes of draining the machine down, checking the filter and removing any small obstructions, all to no avail. As consumers we have been demanding better and more efficient washing machines from manufacturers over the past few years. Manufacturers have duly obliged and, although these machines do perform really well and provide as many options as we could need, in order to achieve the improvements, the operating systems of modern washing machines are controlled by electronics. These parts, when they do go wrong, are generally expensive to replace and difficult to fit.

One thing to bear in mind is that guesswork over what might be the cause is not the best idea, especially rushing out to buy an expensive replacement – unless, of course, you are an expert. (In which case, you probably don’t need to read any further!) Read more here…

Washing machine will not drain issues

A problem we hear time and again which can be easily avoided and usually easily fixed.

First of all try not to panic, this is a very common problem with washing machines and, in most cases, can be resolved quickly and without recourse to an expensive call out to a service engineer.
If your washing machine is still under Warranty, you may think that you will be able to use this to resolve the problem and be back in business quickly. Unfortunately this may not be the case, if the reason for the washing machine not draining is due to one of the most common causes.
The most likely reason for your machine’s problem is a small item/s getting trapped in the filter.  Among these can be keys, coins, small toys etc. Obviously the first thing to do is to drain the washing machine. Generally, this can be done via the drainage pipe located within the filter or, if you have an older machine you may need to drain this manually.  If you still have the washing machine manual, you can check where the filter is located for your particular model.  Read More…

Help! My washing machine has stopped spinning!

We hear this a lot and the problem is not always what is expected by the customer.

Your washing basket’s overflowing, you’ve put on the first wash and then everything comes to a stand still as the machine won’t spin – sure this sounds all too familiar to lots of people. There’s nothing more frustrating when you’re up against it for time and one of your most important labour-saving device goes on the blink!

There are, of course, many reasons why the washing machine refuses to spin or, even worse, won’t drain either.

Before ringing a qualified washing machine engineer, the first place to check is the filter, usually foundlow down on the front of the washing machine. If you do find the filter is blocked, it is fairly easy to clear and, once the filter is replaced, the washing machine should start to operate correctly again. Of course, you may have to investigate further, as coins and small toys can get stuck in the hose behind the filter, so you may have to dig a little deeper. Read More…
